ABOUT Dennis N. Cannon, Jr.
Dennis N. Cannon, Jr., is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Lincoln University, Oxford Pennsylvania, and the alma mater of Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American to sit on the United States Supreme Court. He is also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
He is licensed to practice in both State and Federal Courts of South Carolina and before the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Cannon entered into the private practice of law in the Fall of 1983 concentrating on civil litigation. He has extensive trial experience and has served as a hearing officer for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, presiding over a variety of environmental and health related cases. By appointment of the South Carolina Supreme Court, he served as a Commissioner on the Board of Grievance and Discipline, the arm of the Supreme Court which regulated the conduct of all attorneys authorized to practice law in the State. He has also served on numerous boards and has been a mentor with the Kershaw County United Way Mentoring Program.
Mr. Cannon is a member of the South Carolina Bar; the American Bar Association; the National Bar Association; the American Board of Trial Advocates, a trial advocacy group. Over and above Continuing Legal Education credits required by the State Supreme Court. Mr. Cannon attends a number of seminars throughout the country to stay abreast of legal trends and continue his professional development.
He is a member of First Northeast Baptist Church where he serves on the Deacon Ministry.
